Evaluation of sustainable energy options for horticulture firm Hartman

BlueTerra has evaluated several sustainability options for the horticulturist A.C. Hartman, part of the Fruit Farm Group. Energy solutions such as geo thermal, a biomass-fired boiler or sustainable heat from third parties are compared to traditional heat, electricity and CO2- supply with boilers and CHPs.

For this evaluation BlueTerra developed a model, which is now adopted by A.C. Hartman, in which several growth scenario can be calculated. The model

takes into account a lot of factors such the size of the area, the crop mix, means of production, energy prices, and costs for CO2 rights. The future market circumstances for gas and electricity are modelled on the basis of the BlueTerra Energy Market Forecast model (EMF).
